Planning
Having a tender strategy is what wins tenders and takes your tender submission from a compliant tender to a compelling tender. Knowing your unique selling points, completing a SWOT and gap analysis give you a competitive edge.
Preparing
Once you receive the Request for Tender (RfT) that’s when the preparing starts. Make sure you understand the client’s instructions, you read the contract and you answer the questions using the planning tools and adding all the benefits to the client.
Evaluations
Understand the evaluation process and the weightings allocated. Structure your tender response in accordance with the scoring criteria provided. Pro rata the number of pages with the weightings and the page limit and create a matrix to check your score.
Reviewing
Plan your reviews at the start of the tender process. Have 3 reviews during the tender period (bronze, silver and gold). Use the IPM© review process to ensure a smooth delivery and to avoid re-writes a few days before the submission deadline.
Submission
Have a bid programme at the start of the tender process with accountabilities. Leave one full day free before the submission deadline. Don’t underestimate the time it takes to collate all the appendices, CVs and pdf the document.
